This helps to more quickly establish the status of a pharmaceutical product, as well as the applicant for the CPP certificate in the exporting country. It provides a snapshot of the regulatory status of a single pharmaceutical product and demonstrates the product has been successful in passing the requirements of the issuing regulatory body in the country of export. The CPP is used by authorities in the country of import to verify information such as: Product details including the name, formulation and dosage form, and proves compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

However, simply selecting a vegetarian product does not automatically qualify it as Halal due to the likelihood of cross contamination from other meat and/or alcohol products manufactured using the same equipment. Muslims are expected to consume meat products as part of a healthy and balanced diet.
